Albert L. Shirek, 92, of Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 in his home with his daughter and son-in-law present.

Albert Lawrence Shirek was born March 25, 1928 in Lankin, ND the son of Adolph and Ottillie (Zahradka) Shirek. He grew up near Lawton, ND.

Albert married Stephany Tupa on June 21, 1955 in St. Luke's Catholic church in Veseleyville, ND. They farmed near Lawton until their retirement. They moved to Grand Forks in 2006 to be closer to their daughter and her family.

While on the farm, Albert was a very active member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and was very involved with the Knight of Columbus at the local and state level. One of his biggest joys was teaching his grandson, Patrick to shoot crickets and grasshoppers with a pellet gun from the shop. He loved hunting, fishing, helping his neighbors, and most of all, spending time with his family. That's when he was the happiest!

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Dennis) Bosh, a granddaughter, Jessica (Cory) Abrahamson; a grandson, Patrick Bosh, and great-grandchildren, Emmett and Connor Abrahamson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stephany; a son, Patrick Shirek; his parents, and his brothers, Gordon, Adolph Jr., and Donald.

We want to thank hospice of the Red River Valley for all the help and support to allow Dad to spend his last few weeks at home.

A Private Memorial Service: Will be held in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment: In the spring at St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, Lomice, ND.
