Alice Marie Dacus, age 71 of Grand Forks, died on Monday May 6, 2024, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia.

Alice Marie Dacus, daughter of Michael and Frances (Schuler) Hoffarth, was born on August 20, 1952, at Langdon, ND.  Alice started in school at St. Alphonsus, moved to Bismarck where she completed her last 2 years of high school education at St. Marys' High School.  After completing her high school, she attended and completed 3 years of her studies at the University of North Dakota. On August 2,1975, she was married in Langdon.  After Alice's marriage, she moved and lived in different places, such as Great Falls, MT, Wichita Falls, KS, York, PA, Las Vegas, NV. Later, she returned to North Dakota and settled in Grand Forks.

Alice enjoyed doing puzzles, drawing still life and portraits in charcoal. She loved to bowl, she also enjoyed reading, especially James Patterson and Dean Koontz novels. Alice enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren Morgan and Esa.  She would add her own flavor of humor to conversations and was wonderfully pleasant and respectful. The caregivers at the nursing home enjoyed her smiles and kind way.

She is survived by her daughters, Erin Pugliano, Camp Hill PA. and Amber Schullo, Moorhead MN,  grandchildren Morgan Clair Troutman, Fargo ND, and Isabel "Esa" Schullo, Bismarck, ND; former son in law Cory Schullo, Grand Forks, ND, brothers, Dennis Hoffarth(Janet) Apple Valley CA, Steve Hoffarth (Julie), Waubun MN, Mathias  Hoffarth New Castle, WY, Michael Hoffarth , Mandan, ND; sisters, Mary Frances Moore (Vernon), Alexandria VA,  Louann Wagner, Grand Forks, ND, Deborah Demmers, Grand Forks, ND, sister in law Sharon Hoffarth, Monticello MN, and many nieces and nephews.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her son Sean Dacus; her brothers, Al Hoffarth his wife Mary Jo, and Bill Hoffarth, her sister, Theresa Lavoie husband Bill Lavoie, Robert Demmers, and Charles Wagner.

As we carry on with her memories, we remember her face and the indelible mark she left in our lives. We are grateful for the precious gift of her warmth and precious smile, that we will never forget the joy she brought into our hearts. We pray for the families she left behind, that they may find solace in knowing that their beloved Alice is remembered with love and respect. While she may no longer be with us in person, her spirits live on in our hearts and memories. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Should you or your family desire, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to your preferred charity or Saint Michaels church in Grand Forks for masses for Alice.  In addition, in following her parents example any extra funds will be used to perpetuate the Catholic Faith at St. Michael's Church in Grand Forks.

Memorial Mass: Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: One hour before service time in the church.
