Alida Mae Nelson , 67, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at her home in Grand Forks.

Alida Mae Hell was born on October 20, 1955, at her home in Walhalla, ND, the daughter of Harvey Hell and Darlene Ouellette-Hell. She lived in Walhalla and Grand Forks and graduated from high school in 1973. Alida married Joel Nelson in 1985. She enjoyed reading, going to garage sales, watching movies, playing bingo, fishing, and her job at Lulu's Thrift Store in East Grand Forks, MN.

She is survived by her soulmate, Joe; her children, Aaron, Babette, and Jonathan; a sister, Londa (James) Decoteau; brothers, Allen Lafferty, and Daryl Lafferty; an uncle and aunt, John and Susan Ouellette; four grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Alida was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene; her father, Harvey; her grandparents, Mary and Leo, and Albert and Ida; her sisters, Jeannie and MaryAnne and her brother, Harvey "Sonny".

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life: 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting :  One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment: At a later date, in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Following the Memorial Service, a reception and luncheon will be held at the American Legion Post 157, 1009 Central Avenue Northwest, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.
