ANIETTA IRENE ALLEN

Anietta Irene Allen, age 77 of Grand Forks, died on Monday, December 5, 2022 in her home.

Anietta Irene Allen, a daughter of Thomas and Rita (Brill) Oxley, was born on April 26, 1945, in Tomahawk, WI. She grew up and attended school in Woodruff, WI. Anietta spent a lot of her time with her beloved grandmother, Irene Dimond. As a teenager she spent her summers with her Aunt and Uncle in Steven's Point, WI. When Anietta was 19 she was set up by a family friend with an airman on leave, Bob Allen. They dated for 13 days, and he returned to North Carolina. Bob talked to her for about a month on the phone and then asked her to marry him, Anietta said yes and went to North Carolina with a suitcase and some cash. They were married on Friday, November 13, 1964, at 8:05 p.m. in North Carolina. They have been married for 58 years. After their marriage they lived in South Carolina, Idaho, Illinois and in the Netherlands for a time. In 1982 they moved to Grand Forks where they have resided since.

She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and her dogs.

She is survived by her husband Robert at home; daughters, Irene (Richard) Melby and Laurie (Tracey) Pfaff both of Grand Forks; a son, Daniel (Corina) Allen of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Kathryn (Anthony) Teske, Jonathan Pfaff and Jessica Pfaff; siblings, Katie (Charles) Etenicka, Diana (Robert) Kirschling and Lauriel Arneson.

Anietta was preceded in death by her parents and a son Robert Allen II.

There will be a private service held in the spring of 2023.
