Ann C. (Litzinger) Jensen , 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 in Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, ND

Ann Catherine Litzinger Jensen was born July 25, 1933 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Bernard and Mae (Deitz) Litzinger and the world around her was never the same. Her parents spoiled their blond haired, green eyed German girl as much as one could do during the depression and with 8 other siblings.

She attended St. Michael's school until she was old enough, that a boy with a "cute little butt in his pea coat" named Allen (Bean John) Jensen caught her eye and her heart. In 1951, when Allen was in service in California, she hopped a bus, rode out there and elope with him. They made their home in Grand Forks adopting and raising 2 beautiful daughters.

They loved to have fun dancing and playing cards. Later in life, they would entertain themselves by going downtown and watch the patrons leave McGuire's and the Uptown bars while sipping a cocktails in their car. Mom was the life of many parties as she could take and throw back teasing like a boss, especially with her brothers and son-in-law.

Allen died in 1987 and she then lived and took care of her mother for the next 8 years, a perfect match, Grandma would cook for Ann and Ann would drive her to the Dairy Queen, yet they were both short enough it never looked like anyone was in the car.

During this time and after she dedicated her life to help raising her grandchildren, babysitting them, driving them to events and attending all their events in life. Unknowingly teaching them "French", giving them car rides over the hills in town, with the kids telling her go faster Grandma, in her big boat of a vehicle. She also made famous her granddaughters bachelorette party, where we were told no parties of that type were allowed after because of what she carried on her walker, but she did so proudly for the laughs!

Then came the great grandchildren and the rest of us were just the people who helped her see them or brought them to her. She loved all her babies so much. She lived her last couple years at Valley Eldercare, entertaining those around her with antics and one-liners. She loved those that took care of her there and what a mighty fine job they did, loving her and her loving them while living with dementia and eventually passing away from it at the age of 86.

Her smile, her laugh, her humor and her love will be missed by many but especially by her survivors- children, Sandra Mitchell, Cheryl and David Lawson; grandchildren, Nicole Lawson, Chantelle and Nathan Walker and David Lawson; great-grandchildren, Bella, Ali, Andrew and Ivy. Her best friend, Toni Hofland; a brother, Robert, (Janet) Litzinger; her nieces and nephews and in-laws, Donna, Bill, Jack, Betty, Karen, Faye and Sue.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Laverne Wayslow, Sonny, Duane, Donny, Jerry, Ardell and Bill Litzinger and other nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Friday.
Burial: In the spring at Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
