Arden "Ardie" Schumacher , 82, of Reynolds, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Arden Lewis Schumacher was born on June 29, 1938 in Northwood, ND the son of John and Luella (Gorman) Schumacher.  He was raised in Reynolds and graduated from Reynolds High School.  Following graduation, he began farming with his father and continued to farm until his retirement.  Arden served in the North Dakota Army National Guard and was honorably discharged from military service on April 7, 1963.

Arden was a man of strong and deep faith.  He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6340 in Reynolds.  He was well known for his active role and participation in the annual KC Dinner and Raffle held in Reynolds.   Also, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and served as supervisor of the Buxton Township Board.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing Smear and working on his farm.  Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, John (Katie Richards) Schumacher and Jeff (Tami) Schumacher, both of Grand Forks, ND; his daughter, June Novacek, Grand Forks, ND; former son-in-law, Donny Novacek, Reynolds, ND; the mother of his children, Judy Schumacher, Grand Forks, ND; sisters, Ruth (Lester) Nienas and  Jean (Lloyd) Schreiner, both of Grand Forks, ND, Bonnie (Larry) Kitchell, Utah, Ethel (Mrs. Gerald) Adams, Coon Rapids, MN; sisters-in-law, Joan Schumacher; and Mary Schumacher; grandchildren, Kayla Breidenbach, Shelbie Novacek, Brianna (Dalton Klegstad) Schumacher, Megan Schumacher, Bradley (Sydney) Schumacher, Casey (Kat Dennison) Schumacher and Nathan Schumacher; great-grandchildren, Broedy Breidenbach, Ramsey Breidenbach, Brooks Breidenbach, Aliyah Moon, Hadley Schumacher, Kallie Schumacher and Boone Schumacher; many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon, Bernard and Gerald "Bud"; a sister, Rosemary Reilly; a brother-in-law, Gerald Adams; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Suedel and Robert Breidenbach.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND.

Visitation: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery in Reynolds, ND.

Military Honors :  Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
