Arnold H. Stegman, 84, of Grand Forks, ND went very peacefully to be with our Lord and his beloved wife, Sharon on Saturday, October 10, 2020.  He passed away at his home with his daughter by his side.

Arnold Henry Stegman was born March 3, 1936 in Neche, ND the son of Reinhold and Flora (LaTraille) Stegman.  He was raised in Neche by his aunt and uncle, Adam and Tillie Menke.  He attended school in Neche where he played basketball and graduated from high school.  Arnold enlisted in the Unite States Air Force on September 29, 1954 at Fargo, ND.  During this time, he met the love of his life, Sharon Lee Fair. Arnold and Sharon were united in marriage on August 23, 1957 in Sydney, OH.  Arnold was honorably discharged from military service on March 28, 1958.  Arnold and Sharon made their home in Grand Forks and had 3 children, Stacy, Scott and Monte.

Arnold was employed with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and later with the University of North Dakota.  When he was younger, he often worked 2 jobs at a time.  He was a very hard worker and told his children, "Don't ever think you are to big for a job."

Arnold loved his family and above all else his wife.  He loved to dance with her and so if you thought you heard thunder on the 10 ^th of October, it was just dad and mom dancing in Heaven.  He enjoyed all sports, especially Chicago Cubs Baseball and Chicago Bears Football.  Also, he loved visiting with friends.  Arnold and Sharon like to travel and took many trips.  He could not go anywhere in Grand Forks without half of the people knowing him.  He was admired by a great many people.

He is survived by his children, Stacy Stegman, Grand Forks, ND,  Scott (Shelly) Stegman, Ankeny, IA and Monte Stegman, Clearbrook, MN; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, who brought him so much joy.  He is also survived by 6 sisters, 1 brother and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepparents, a brother and a grandson.

Many thanks to Comfort Keepers, Altru Hospice, and Red River Valley Hospice for their exceptional care of our Dad.  He told me, 'They are good girls."

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 in Augustana Lutheran Church, 520 University Avenue Grand Forks, ND 58203.  Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required in the church.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the church on Friday.
Interment: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard.
