Ashley Emma Sweeney , 33, of rural Manvel, ND, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Ashley was born on September 19, 1986 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She was the daughter of Robert and Mary Jo (McFarland) Sweeney. Ashley grew up on a farm near Manvel, ND. She attended St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Manvel; attended elementary school in Manvel and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 2005. During her time in school, she was active in cheerleading, swimming and hockey. Following high school, Ashley attended the University of North Dakota earning a Social Work degree in 2009. She went on to be employed with Andrew Health Care Center in Minneapolis, MN. Recently, she was employed in the Quality Control Lab of American Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks, MN.

Ashley had a beautiful infectious smile that lit up the room and our lives. Her faith in God made her glow! Ashley had a special place in her heart for Maple Lake in Minnesota and enjoyed the beach in Florida. She was our water baby and we called her "Mermaid".

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Mary Jo Sweeney; siblings, Naomi (Christian) Hansen, Heidi (Nick) Wavra and a brother, Wesley Sweeney and her grandfather, Weldon McFarland. Ashley was the best aunt to Hope and Ava Wavra and Clinton and Henry Hansen. Ashley had many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Roma McFarland; her paternal grandparents, John and Irene Sweeney; an aunt, Michelle and cousins, Jeremiah Moen and Derrick Sweeney.

Ashley will be missed by all who loved her.
