Bernice A. Sauer, 96, of Grand Forks, ND passed peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks.

Bernice Ann Jolly was born February 19, 1923 in Terrebonne, MN the daughter of Edmund and Agnes (Thibert) Jolly. She attended school in Red Lake Falls, MN.  She met and married Bernard "Ben" Sauer in 1946 and they moved to Grand Forks where she was a longtime resident.

Bernice was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.  She enjoyed cooking for family, gardening, playing cards with her grandchildren and neighbors and going to casinos, where she was often a winner.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Dale) Bodine, Annandale, MN, Cherie (Mark) Watkins West Chester, OH, Janie (Bill) Holtan, Grand Forks, ND; her son, Brad Sauer, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Rory, Andrea, Brent, Scott, Erica and Amy; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Ben, Jace, Gunnar, Brody, Olivia, Alison, Caroline, Opal and Miles and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her parents and her siblings, Vern, Bernard, Andrew, Lucille, Simone and Beulah.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Valley Senior Living for their kindness, care and support during our mother's stay.

Mass of Christian Burial: 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND. The Mass will be celebrated by her nephew, Fr. Tim Sauer.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy at the church on Friday.
Burial: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
