Brian Jay Burkholder , 69, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away the morning of Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Sanford Care Center in Hillsboro, ND. He was surrounded by love. Brian was born in Grand Forks, ND, February 9, 1955. He graduated from Red River High School in 1973.

A man of all seasons, That's Brian.  The outdoors was his love. Gardening and fishing in the spring, beaches, and golf in the summer, bow hunting and bonfires in the fall, and skiing and hockey in the winter. Camping was a must in all four seasons.  Always something to look forward to and memories to look back on.

Brian lived his life by following the Dale Carnegie book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People." He acquired friends everywhere he was with his wit and charm.  Genuinely loving and caring for all his friends and family.  He made us all feel important with his compassionate words and kind deeds.

As a child, we are born with a kind spirit, a natural rhythm to dance, laugh and a sense to seek out adventure.  Brian carried that throughout his life.  "Well done, fine son."

Brian is survived by his daughter, Brianna Burkholder, Denver, CO; sons, Jeremy Hendershot, New York and Jacob Hendershot, Ohio; by his brother, Michael Burkholder, Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Joleen Olson, Shreveport, LA, June (Lonnie) Spokely, Hillsboro, ND and Janelle Towey, Merritt Island, FL; his nephews and nieces, Kari Lohr, Larry Anderson, Janeen Anderson, Jeralyn Olson, Jillian Spokely, Justine Sletten, Grant Spokely, Jolee Anderson, Amzie Anderson, Genevieve Olson, Shane Sletten, Sterling Sletten and Ella Anderson.   He is also survived by his two uncles, Frank Burkholder, Grand Forks, ND and Bill Eismann, Menlo Park, CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kelley Burkholder; parents, Earl and LaVerne (Stoltman) Burkholder, and his nephews, Joseph Olson and John Paul Anderson.

Memorial Liturgy: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Wednesday.
Interment: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
