Bruce John Spicer, 68, died on June 30th, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Bruce was born on October 26th, 1951 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Clifford (Kike) and Elizabeth (Bette) Spicer. He was the fifth of their nine children. He attended school at St. Michael's, Wilder, Valley, and Central High School. On May 5th, 1973 he married the love of his life, Christine Zon. They had five children, Tomas (Lisa) Spicer, Katie (Michael) Marcotte, Annie (Joshua) Schmaltz, Kelly (Matthew) Moreland, and Genevieve Spicer. They were blessed with 13 beautiful grandchildren, Baylee (24), Boe (22), Hunter (20), Chase (17), Colton (15), Farrah (15), Jacob (12), Cash (10), Jhett (8), Lola (7), Mace (5), Georgia (5) and Huck (7 months).

There was nothing in this world that made Bruce more proud than his children and grandchildren, he was their number one supporter and fan. He was at every hockey, volleyball, soccer, and basketball game, and go-kart races, where he could always be heard cheering loudly (or yelling at the referees). He valued family time and made sure they attended dinners together every weekend, making sure to instill and pass on the value of family to each and every one of his children. They will forever be blessed with the memories of his jokes, long hugs, and unconditional love.

Bruce was known for his quick wit, generous heart, and hard work. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved to tell jokes and spend weekends at the lake with his family; he lit up each room he walked into. He took the time to make each person he encountered feel special and let them know he truly cared for them. Bruce worked every day for the last 45 years at Spicer Container & Salvage, a business he proudly built from the ground up with his brothers.

However, his greatest achievement was his marriage of 47 years to Christine. They met in the summer of 1969 at Maple Lake and it was love at first sight. They went steady for 5 years before being married at St. Michael's Church in Grand Forks. Their marriage and relationship were centered around their love for God and Catholic values. Their devotion and love for one another was strong and unwavering. Their relationship will go down as one of the greatest loves of all time.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by his ten siblings, Beverly Volland, Seattle, WA; Carrie (Maynard) Hanson, Grand Forks, ND; Karen (Denny) Witheril, Seattle, WA; Sandy (Jack) Sundby, Sleepy Eye, MN; Beaner (Susie) Spicer, Grand Forks, ND; Craig (Sheila) Spicer, Mentor, MN; Mark Spicer, Grand Forks, ND; Brad (Nancy) Spicer, Grand Forks, ND; Christi (Greg) Orson, Fargo, ND; and Kimberly Spicer, Grand Forks, ND; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Sylvia Norlin and Florian Zon, and grandparents, Peter and Katy Foltz, and Howard and Maggie Spicer.

He was a strong, courageous, and kind man who was loved by so many and will be truly missed each and every day.
