Carla Erickson, 49, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Wednesday July 8, 2020 at her home following a 5 year battle with breast cancer.

Carla was born June 29, 1971 to Herb and Anne Teitgen in Texas. Her family moved to Washington where she grew up on an orchard.  She met Tom Erickson at a church activity in Fargo, ND and they were married on October 3, 1992 in Sioux Falls, SD. When first married, they lived in Minot, ND and after 1 year they moved to Grand Forks, where they have lived for the last 26 years.

Carla loved people and got a great joy out of helping others. She worked for REM for a number of years and helped care for the disabled. She then went to school to become a massage therapist and developed many friendships with her clients over the past 18 years. She cared about all of them.

Carla will be greatly missed by her family. She loved the outdoors and greenway. Before getting cancer, she would run 5 miles a day. Her faith in God is what helped her survive the last 5 years. She will always be in our hearts and will be missed by all.

The family wishes to thank the many people who encouraged Carla during her struggle with cancer. A special thank you to everyone in the Altru Health Care System.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; her children, Eric (16), Joy (12), and Alex (9) and brother, Robert (Amber) Teitgen, of Massachusetts.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Anne Teitgen.

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at Hope Church, 1601 17 ^th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND.
