Daniel "Dan B" Narlock , 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at his home in Grand Forks.

Daniel Benjamin Narlock was born on July 14, 1935, on the family farm, west of Oslo, MN in Walsh County.  He attended rural school in Walsh County and in 1953 graduated from St. James Academy in Grand Forks. Daniel entered the United States Army on March 25, 1954, at Fargo, ND; was a candidate in the Army's Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and served in the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged from military service with the rank of Private Second Class on January 9, 1956, at Fort Lewis Washington.   Daniel married Yvonne Odenbrett on January 13, 1962, in Los Angeles, CA.  They moved to Daniel's farm west of Oslo, MN where they raised their 6 children.  While farming, he raised over a 100 head of cattle until 1978.  After farming, he established and operated a road maintenance business in Walsh County until 1992.  Dan and Yvonne moved to Grand Forks and Dan was employed as a Licensed Realtor from 1992 to 2020.  Yvonne preceded him in death on July 10, 2006.

Dan was a man of deep spirituality and was a faithful Roman Catholic.  He was a long-time member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND and later St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.   He was elected a Walsh County Commissioner; serving from 1982 to 1990 and served two years as its Board Chairman.  Governor George Sinner appointed him to the North Dakota State Water Commission; serving from 1987 to 1993.  From 1971 to 1991, he served on the Board of Directors of Agassi Water Users.  Dan loved to dance and enjoyed playing Poker and Pinochle, throwing dice, playing horseshoes, listening to music and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Charles (Kathy) Narlock, Grand Forks, ND, Harold (Doreen) Narlock, Fischer, MN, Dennis Narlock, Reynolds, ND, Tamara (Tim) Hennessy, Grand Forks, ND, Janine (Joel) Trowbridge, Moorhead, MN and Angie (Jon) Borgen, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Joseph (Stacy) Narlock Chad (Taylor) Narlock,  Mikayla and Kelsie Narlock, Colin, Casey and Timmy, Hennessy, Alexander and Dominique Trowbridge and Elizabeth Narlock great-grandchildren, Tucker and Briella Narlock; a sister, Eleanor; a sister-in-law, Seline; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Yvonne; an infant grandchild; his siblings, Sylvester, Margaret, Francis, Marian, Sr. Cecelianne, Richard, Dorothy, Joe, Andrew and Joyce; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, Dan's family request that memorials be given to The American Legion Post 157, 1009 Central Ave NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Wednesday.
Burial: In the spring, at Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded at the time of burial, by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
