David E. McGurran , 73, of Grand Forks, ND passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND.

David Edward McGurran was born on January 17, 1953, in Grand Forks, ND the son of William and Grace (Brown) McGurran. He was raised in Grand Forks and attended Red River High School. After his junior year of high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy on May 15, 1970.  He was honorably discharged from active military service on May 14, 1974.  While in the service, David married Ileen Gabaree and they resided in Vermont and had two sons, Frank and Travis.  Following his discharge, David returned to Grand Forks and married DeLaine Lizakowski on April 27,1990. They made their 'first' home their 'forever' home in Grand Forks.  David was a licensed journeyman plumber, working for HH&K, Molstad Excavating, and Economy Plumbing.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, DeLaine; a son, Travis and grandson, Avery Paul; brothers, Dennis (Geraldine) and sisters, Rita Devine, Maureen Sylling, Charis Brossart; brothers-in-law, Terrance (Vicky) Lizakowski, Kevin Lizakowski; sisters-in-law, Julie (Lou) Lombardi, Angie ( Lizakowski) Schultz and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Frank, and brothers, Michael, Patrick, Tim, and Gerald, sisters, Mary (Vonasek), Marjorie (Bergum), and Sr. Michelle (Colleen) OSB, brother-in-law, Mark "Sparky" Lizakowski.

Funeral Liturgy: 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, in the Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Friday.
Burial : 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Warsaw, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the United States Navy Reserve.
