DeWayne J. Janzen , 82, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in his home in Grand Forks, surrounded by his loving family.

DeWayne Jake Janzen was born on April 1, 1940, in Devils Lake, ND the son of Jake and Susie (Hoffman) Janzen.  He grew up in Munich, ND and attended Banner Elementary School and Munich Elementary School.  DeWayne graduated from Munich High School in 1958.  He moved to Grand Forks and attended Aaker's Business College, graduating with an Associates Degree in Accounting.  He was employed with Rydell Chevrolet from 1960 to 2008.  DeWayne married the love of his life Barbara Bannach on November 18, 1967, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Calio, ND.  DeWayne and Barbara resided in Grand Forks, working and raising their two children, Kenny and Cindy.  DeWayne was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.

DeWayne was the ultimate husband, father and grandfather. He took care of everyone around him, and never let a tank of gas go empty or a driveway go uncleared. He never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren, Jacey and Tyler, in any of their sporting events of extracurricular activities. He enjoyed frequent trips to Menards, The Rite Spot to see his buddy Tom, and Tesoro Station, where he purchased his weekly lottery tickets from his favorite clerk, Melissa. DeWayne spent much of his free time over the last few years perfecting the family lake cabin, and taking on all the projects that entails. DeWayne was very excited to cultivate the ultimate lake experience for his family and friends, and enjoyed the summer nights surrounded by the ones he loved telling stories and sharing beers. He was an expert popcorn chef, and the backbone of every party.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Cindy, (Chuck) Savage, Grand Forks, ND; a grandson, Tyler Savage and a granddaughter, Jacey Savage; brother, LaVern Janzen and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Janzen; brothers, Edwin Janzen, Albert Janzen.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Thursday.
Burial: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Celebration of Life: Following burial at VFW Club, East Grand Forks, MN.
