Dona Nichols, (82) of Brooklyn Park, MN and formerly from Grand Forks, ND died July 18, 2021, at Catholic Elder Care in Minneapolis, MN.

Dona Joy Georgeson was born April 13, 1939 to Albin and Hilda (Titterud) Georgeson. Dona was 9th out of 10 children. She graduated from Esmond High School in 1957, where she was valedictorian of her class.

Dona worked at KFGO radio in Fargo, North Dakota. She enjoyed her job at the fast paced station, as she was tasked with gathering information for the morning traffic report, to give to the on air personality.  She then went on to study business at the International Business College in Fargo.  Dona married Raymond R. Hieb in the spring of 1961, together they had one daughter Jacqueline Hieb(Russell)

After divorcing Raymond, she moved to Grand Forks, where she worked at Deaconess and United Hospitals as a secretary for many years, before a back injury forced her into early retirement. As a single mother, Dona worked very hard & dedicated herself to her daughter.

On July 30, 1981, Dona married Daniel Nichols in Grand Forks, ND. Dona and Dan were married for 38 years. Dona enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitching, knitting and various other arts and crafts.  She would cross-stitch the most beautiful florals or landscapes, and her daughter Jackie, who was a custom picture framer at the time, would frame them so elegantly for her!  She was also an excellent seamstress. In her later years she loved to crochet blankets, especially baby blankets, she would then donate them to a shelter for women with babies or small children.

Dona moved to Minneapolis, MN to be near her daughter in the fall of 2019, after the passing of her husband Daniel.  She enjoyed living close to her daughter and that Jackie was able to visit her often.

Dona was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Hieb (2005) and husband, Daniel Nichols in (2019): her parents, 4 sisters, twins: Adeline Zimbleman ('96), Adela Evans ('82), Jane Olson ('17) and Dorothy Tracer ('19), 3 brothers: Roy ('13) and Palmer ('06) and Harold Georgeson ('52). Her brother, Harold O. Georgeson died while serving his country in the Korean War.

Dona is survived by her only child, Jacqueline (Erik) Russell of Minneapolis, MN; brothers: Ardell Georgeson of Tennessee and Albin Georgeson Jr. of North Dakota; her step-daughter, Christine (Brett) Dorsam and their 3 children all from Indiana.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment: 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
