Donald "Don" Evenson, 93 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, in Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Donald James Evenson was born on November 18, 1928, in Wahpeton, ND the son of Ole and Bessie (Snyder) Evenson.  He moved with his family to Grand Forks, where he graduated from Grand Forks Central High School.  Don met Ida Mae Tereault and they were married August 8, 1949, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.  Don served in the United States Army and he and Ida Mae spent the next six years moving to different military bases during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged from active military service on October 14, 1952.  In 1956, Don and Ida Mae returned to Grand Forks and Don was employed as an insurance agent with several insurance companies.

Don was an avid NASCAR fan and was a longtime and active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. He was a member of the Veterans Memorial Park Committee in Grand Forks and helped to design and execute the fund-raising campaign to build the park.  Don was very proud that he was able to live in his home all the time he lived in Grand Forks.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Janine Evenson, Long Lake, MN, and her extended family; Ida Mae's half siblings, William Tereault, Shoreview, MN, Kathleen Thalhuber, Mahtomedi, MN; his many nieces and nephews, especially, Susan Johnson, Omaha, NE, Charlene Ekelund, Casselton, ND, Sherrie Evenson, Linn, OR, Brad Evenson, Arvilla, ND, Vickie Evenson Gonzales, Grand Forks, ND, Pat Tereault, Independence, MO; his wonderful neighbors, (who were like family to Don and were always there for him), Mark and Janelle Lothspeich, Kathy Hjelden and her son, Jason, Dorothy Bohlman, Jordan and Maxine Else and Chuck and Laurie Crummy (as Chuck was like a son to Don) and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida Mae; his son, David Evenson, and his siblings.
