Dorothy Mary (Dubuque) Rakoczy, 89, of Reynolds, ND entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Dorothy Mary Dubuque was born February 27, 1930 to Frank and Clara (Storkson) Dubuque in Grand Forks, ND. She attended Rye School District 30, Academy of St. James, where she was valedictorian. She went on to attend The College of St. Catherine, where she received a degree in Library Science. Upon graduation, she worked at the University of North Dakota Library until she and John moved to Reynolds.  Dorothy married John Rakoczy on January 19, 1956. They moved out to the farm near Reynolds, ND where she dedicated her life to raising 10 children.

She had a strong Catholic faith and was involved in many church organizations at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Reynolds, ND. She was also involved in OTO Homemakers Club. She often babysat for family and friends in the surrounding community. Dorothy had a love of reading and documenting her life through scrapbooks and daily journals.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Rakoczy. Her children Mary (Robert) Kieffer of Appleton, MN, Dorothy Jackson of Fargo, ND, Ken Rakoczy of Reynolds, ND, Karen (Brent) Nelson of Golden Valley, MN, James Rakoczy of Plymouth MN, Betty (Marty) Hagan of New Lisbon, WI, Ray (Michelle) Rakoczy of Thompson, ND, Tony Rakoczy of Scottsdale, AZ, Clara (Wade) Chambers of Grand Forks ND, and Jeanne (Todd) Hegg of Thompson, ND. Grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Feuchtenberger, Trent Jackson, Cassie (Michael) Patterson, Eddie Nelson, Natasha Nelson, Danny (Cassie) Hagan, Anthony Hagan, Adam Hagan, Kelsey Rakoczy, Dylan Rakoczy, Dallas Chambers, Madi Chambers, Samantha Hegg, Tyler Hegg, and Summer Hegg. Great grandchildren, Blair, Brady, Kenzie, Kenna Feuchtenberger and Scarlett Hagan. Siblings, Betty Wandler of Gillette, WY and Art (Jan) Dubuque of Grand Forks. Sisters- in- law, Lottie Breidenbach of Grand Forks, ND and Mary Ann Rakoczy of Reynolds, ND and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Dubuque and Daniel Dubuque, in law's Leon Wandler, Meredith Dubuque, Sophine (Bohm) Adams, Virgil Bohm, Gene Adams, Vincent Breidenbach, Anna and Edward Szymanski, Walter Rakoczy and Joseph Rakoczy.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jamie Roed, the staff at Altru Hospital, Altru Hospice and Valley Senior Living for the special care they provided Dorothy. Also, to Father John Cavanaugh for his years of spiritual guidance and visits that he made to the family farm when Dorothy became homebound.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynolds, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, January 31, 2020 with rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and vigil service at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND, in the spring.
