Douglas Louis Ackerman, age 77, of Reynolds, ND passed away on his birthday, September 22, 2023. He was born on September 22, 1946, at St Michael's Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. He is the oldest son of Albert and Katherine (Batyski) Ackerman.

Douglas entered the Marine Corps in July, 1964. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in July, 1968. He worked various jobs in the Grand Forks area until moving back to take over the family farm after his father's retirement. Douglas was a devout Catholic. He attended Mass every week. His faith was important to him. He was so proud to tell his family that he read the entire Bible.

Douglas is survived by his brothers and sister: Michael (Betty) Ackerman, Grand Forks, ND; Phyllis Moen, Mesa, AZ; Rev Phillip Ackerman, West Fargo, ND; six nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gordon C. Moen.

Doug would always tell people, "Have a good day."

The Mass of Christian Burial: Will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Reynolds, ND.
Visitation: Will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the Historic Norman Funeral Home, Grand Forks, ND. A 7:00 p.m. Wake Service will follow the visitation.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Thursday.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded at the time of the burial by members of the American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
