Douglas "Doug". Donley , 77, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at his home in Grand Forks.

Douglas Keith Donley born February 23, 1943 in Superior, WI the son of George and Hazel (Edgette) Donley. He attended school at Cathedral High School in Superior until his junior year. He moved with his family to Grand Forks and graduated from St. James Catholic High School. Douglas went on to attend the University of North Dakota for four years but didn't quite graduate. He always regretted not completing his degree.

Douglas served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. He was honorably discharged from military service on November 30, 1971 with the rank of Specialist 5. Douglas married Sue Larson on April 17, 1970 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. They had two sons and a daughter. Susan preceded him in death on June 18, 2011.

He played football, baseball and basketball but especially loved fastpitch softball. He was on 2 state championship teams in 1963 and 1971.   He refereed high school football and basketball for 23 years. He also curled for 10 years. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing with a great group of guys. Douglas was a salesman for Keebler/Kellogg's for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a 57-year member of the American Legion Post 157.

He is survived by a son, Gregg (Danita) Donley, Elkhart IN; a daughter, Tracie (Gary) Howard, Mishawaka, IN; granddaughters, Macie and Brenna; brothers-in- law, Bob Larson, Larimore ND, Tim (Jami) Larson, Lakeville MN, Corby (Terri) Larson, East Grand Forks MN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Susan; a son, Terry; his parents, George and Hazel Donley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rocky and Roberta Larson; brothers, George Donley and Jim Donley and a brother-in-law, Dennis Larson.

Funeral Liturgy: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Friday.
Burial: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
