Eileen E. Bertleson , 75, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Eileen Elizabeth Sampson was born on May 20, 1946, in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Deitz) Sampson. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks.  Eileen was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.  Upon the completion of her education, Eileen entered upon a long and active working career.  She was a hardworking person and throughout her life, was always working or busy doing something.   At a young age, she began working at the Kegs Drive-In in Grand Forks and eventually became the Assistant Manager.  Eileen married John "Butch" Butler on October 6, 1964, in Grand Forks.

Eileen went on to own and operate a home day care center in Grand Forks until 1997.   Eileen married Oliver "Butch" Bertleson on November 16, 1979, in Grand Forks.  Oliver preceded her in death on May 14, 2014.   She enjoyed going to casinos, going out to eat, shopping and pets. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, John (Tanya) Butler; a stepson, Adam (Ronna) Bertleson, all of Grand Forks, ND;  her daughters, Tammy Irvine, Grand Forks, ND, Lisa (Steve) Johnson, Thompson, ND and Krissy (Casey) Rude, Grand Forks, ND; her sisters, Darlene (Gary) Goetz, Grand Forks, ND; her brothers, James Sampson, New York, Richard (Mela) Sampson, Grand Forks, ND and 9 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver; a son, Darrin Bertleson; a grandson, Benjamin "Benny" Irvine and a sister, Janice Russell.

Funeral Liturgy : 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Wednesday.
Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
