Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Braaten) Fontaine, 79, of East Grand Forks, died November 28, 2025 surrounded by family.

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Braaten was born April 28, 1946 in Tolna ND to Theodore & Cleona (Hensrud) Braaten where she grew up until the family moved to Grand Forks, ND.

Betty married Floyd J. Fontaine on April 6, 1963 at United Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. In this union they went on to share two daughters, Christine and Laurie. Following their marriage, they lived in Grand Forks until moving to East Grand Forks in 1985.

Betty spent her younger years waitressing at various restaurants in Grand Forks, ND.  Many years of her waitressing career was spent at The Dakota Hotel. After waitressing she went on to work at Simplot and then Associated Potato, where she retired after 30 years.

In her spare time, she liked to bake, go to rummage sales, play bingo, or go to the casino with her family. But most of all Betty loved to spend time with all the grand and great grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Theodore and Cleo Braaten, an infant daughter; Cindy Mae Fontaine, husband; Floyd Fontaine, brothers; Larry and Donny, sisters; Sonja, Judy, Vicky, Loretta, and Beverly.

Betty is survived by her Daughters Christine  (Ray) Ostlie, Laurie (Mark) Fontaine; Grandchildren; Nicole (Richard) Espinoza, Ashley (Chris) Garceau, Jessica, Jennah, Julia Fontaine; great grandchildren; Kyla Langer, Kaisha Goodrun, Keandre Goodrun, Kiana Castillo, Luna Fontaine, great-great  grandchildren; Mariano and Kheiron Perales, along with grand-baby number 13 on the way, siblings; Dennis (Jeanne) Braaten of Deerwood, MN, Douglas (Karen) Braaten of Grand Forks, ND, Thomas (Carmen) Braaten of Grand Forks, ND, Linda Duray of Arizona, Barbara Feist of Arizona, and Sharon Eaves of Cando, ND., along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
