EMILY A. OSTGARD

E mily A. Ostgard, age 83 of East Grand Forks, MN, died December 30, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, surrounded by her family.

Emily was brought into this world by her loving parents Frank and Elizabeth (Shimek) Cicha. She attended country school in the area and graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic School in East Grand Forks, MN in 1958. Emily later married LeRoy Ostgard in 1958 and raised 5 children, Rick (Tammy) Ostgard of Coon Rapids, Randy (Jamie) Ostgard of Grand Forks, Ron Ostgard of Grand Forks, Michele (Henry Gutierrez) Ostgard of East Grand Forks, and Amanda (Eric) Austin of Pipestone.

Emily is known for being a hard-working mother with the reliance of a saint!  She worked unwavering to provide for her family. She enjoyed cooking, feeding people, and the Christmas holidays.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed her traveling adventures and was a human navigator. She enjoyed decades at the lake, spending time with every family member, and doing puzzles.  Over the decades she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play football, hockey, and baseball.

She is survived by her children, 11 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Fern Coulter of Grand Forks, Myrtle Olson of Wisconsin, Frances Fedder of Idaho and Alvy and Eddie Cicha of East Grand Forks.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; siblings, Corienne Johnson, Patricia Braman, Evelyn Burnett, Margaret Srnsky and Virginia Feist.

Mass of the Christian Burial: Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN

Visitation: one hour before the Liturgy in the church on Friday.

Burial: Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks, MN.
