Esther F. Narlock , age 96, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Forest River, ND, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Esther Frances Osowski was born on March 31, 1925, in rural Ardoch Township, North Dakota, the daughter of Bruno and Stella (Ebertowski) Osowski. She attended rural school in Ardoch Township and went on to graduate from Minto High School in Minto, ND.  Following her graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she worked for several years.  She returned home and taught school in Walsh County.  Esther married Francis Narlock on October 29, 1945, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND.

Esther and Francis made their home in rural Forest River where they raised seven children.  There was not a job on the farm that Mom could not do.  When asked what kept her so young, she replied "When milking cows, the slap of the tail was the best facial."  After 40 years of farming, Esther and Francis moved to Minto.  Esther was employed as cook with the Minto Schools and as a cook for the priest in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  After Francis passed in 2001, Esther moved to Grand Forks.  Esther loved playing cards, especially Pinochle, playing Bingo and dancing the polka.  However, nothing was more special to Esther, than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Esther is survived by her children, Robert (Betty) Narlock, West Fargo, ND, Judy (Roger) Olufson, Grand Forks, ND, Merrie (Dennis) Dunlop, Fargo, ND, James (Nancy) Narlock, Grand Forks, ND, Annette (Lee) Stewart, Grapevine, TX, Cindy Ferguson, Cedar Rapids, IA, Gary (Bev) Slominiski (who she thought of as her own), Ardoch, ND; grandchildren, Dustin, Katy, Jon, Ryan, Amber, Carl, Donna, Jason, Jessica, Nathan, Andrea and Amy; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Greyson, Jackson, Isaac, Mason, Sawyer, Rose and Everett; a brother, Ernie (Karen) Osowski; sisters, Louise (Daniel) Sevigny, JoAnn Babinski, Maxine Wilkes; brothers-in-law, Danny Narlock, Ernie Schanilec; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bergeron and Seline Narlock.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; a daughter, Janet; a grandson, Scott Narlock; son-in-law, Ronnie Riske; 4 sisters and a brother.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in St Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a  7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Tuesday.
Burial: 2:00 p.m Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Ardoch, ND
