Gary Lynn Knupp, age 74 of Fargo, ND and formerly Grand Forks, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND.

Gary Knupp a son of Robert and Alegra (Kestner) Knupp, was born on March 2, 1947 at New Florence, PA. He was raised and attended high school in the area. In 1965 he graduated form Laurel Valley Highschool. On April 13, 1966, he entered the US Air Force. Gary made a career in the Air Force working as the Financial Management and Services Supervisor. On April 3, 1971, he married Carol L. Miller at New Florence, PA. This marriage later ended. Gary was transferred to the Grand Forks Air Force Base. On April 30, 1991, he retired from the Air Force after almost 25 years. He began his second career driving truck for local companies, Britton, Trans Systems and finally Altendorf Trucking in Minto, ND. On March 2, 1998, he married Michele Bye in Grand Forks. This marriage later ended.  In 2019, Gary retired due to work related injuries. He continued to reside in Grand Forks until health reasons forced him to move to Fargo and finally Valley City, ND.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his children. Gary taught the children at Michele's daycare how to crack eggs and bake.

He is survived by sons, Michael Knupp, Jeremy Johnson, Jason Bye and Jeff Bye; daughter, Tina Knupp-Johnson; 10 grand children; a great-granddaughter; one brother, Burl Knupp and a sister, Aleta King.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Services, Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Fargo National Veterans Cemetery in Harwood, ND.

Military Honors are provided by the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honor Guard.
