George G. Tuma, 82, of Grand Forks, ND passed away, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at his home in Grand Forks.

George Gene Tuma was born on July 20, 1940, in Walsh County North Dakota, the son of Albert and Mary (Lipsh) Tuma.  He was raised in Conway, ND and graduated from Fordville High School.  He went on to graduate from Aaker's Business College with an associate degree.  George entered the United States Army on April 2, 1963, at Fargo, ND served as a Personnel Specialist.  He was honorably discharged from active military service on March 19, 1965, at Fort Hamilton, New York.

George married Judy Stanislawski on September 9, 1967, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw, ND.  They just celebrated their 55 ^th wedding anniversary.  He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Grand Forks Street Department.  He was a long-time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, a 3 ^rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post 157 and the Disabled American Veterans.

George enjoyed playing softball, cooking, baking, gardening, watching Minnesota Twins baseball, Minnesota Vikings football, Sioux sports, making homemade Kielbasa (Bologna), horseradish and beef jerky.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and watching his grandkids activities.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Duane (Robb) Tuma-Cook and Tami (David) Kuznia; grandchildren, Zac Kuznia and Kendra Kuznia; siblings, Albert (Kathy) Tuma, Eunice (Earl) Walters and Janice (Jack)Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Tuma and a granddaughter, Kate Elise Kuznia.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil Service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Friday.
Burial: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 3817, the Disabled American Veterans and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
