Gloria Kathryn Urness , age 73 of East Grand Forks, died in her home on Monday, March 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria Kathryn Feken Urness was born in Portsmouth, VA, July 9, 1950. The daughter of Norma D. (Pearson) Feken and Jerald L. Feken. After Jerald was honorably discharged from the US Navy, the family moved back to Jerald's hometown of Fertile, MN. This is where Gloria attended grade school and graduated from high school in 1968.

After high school Gloria married James Urness and they had two children, Jenifer, and Ryan. In 1979, Gloria and the kids moved to East Grand Forks, MN. She worked over 20 years at the University of North Dakota as an administrative assistant. This is where she became an avid Fighting Sioux hockey fan. Gloria also worked for 12 years at Northland Community & Technical College in EGF, as a teacher's assistant for the adult English as a Second Language classroom, this was her favorite job.

Gloria's biggest joys came with spending time with her grandchildren. Having them stay over for a night, the weekend, or a week, the longer the better! She enjoyed going to their sporting events and programs. She loved having them come for Fighting Sioux hockey games.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Jenifer (David) Dahl of Bagley, MN, Ryan Urness of East Grand Forks, MN, grandchildren Logan and Mackenzie Dahl, Griffin Halland, Derek and Avery Urness, brother Don Feken of Dalton Gardens, ID, along with two nephews Lawrence Buth, and Michael Feken.

She is preceded in death by her parents Norma and Jerald Feken.

In recognition of Gloria's passion we encourage you to wear your Fighting Sioux apparel to the funeral.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Tuesday.
