Gus Patrick Nelson, age 34, of Fargo, ND (formerly of Duluth, MN), passed away on May 18th, 2026, from an undetermined cardiac medical event.

Born August 11, 1991, Gus was the son of Bradley Nelson and Kimberley (Dahmen) Nelson.

Gus graduated from Duluth Marshall High School in 2010 and received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Technology from Lake Superior College.

He was employed by Precision Concrete Cutters & RamJack in Fargo, ND since 2014. Previously, he worked at Spirit Mountain and at the family-run West Duluth Dairy Queen from middle school through college. Gus also battled wildfires in Washington and Oregon as a wildland firefighter after graduating from fire school.

Gus enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Whether it was paintballing with friends, hunting and fishing with family, or camping and attending motor sports events, Gus always looked forward to the next hunt or family gathering. Despite having many different hobbies, he mostly enjoyed the company of others.

A beloved son, brother, and uncle, Gus leaves a difficult void in all our hearts. Gone too soon and will forever be missed.

Gus was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberley Nelson, and his sister, Natalie Nicole Nelson.

He is survived by his father, Bradley Nelson; his brother, Matt (Lisa) Nelson; niece Scarlett; and nephew Jack.

Visitation and Funeral

Visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass following at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Proctor, MN.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life and Social will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Buffalo House Event Center in Duluth, MN.
