Harvey D. Akridge, 87, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN.

Harvey Doyle Akridge was born on February 22, 1936, in Kensett, AR the son of Benson and Kate (Pryor) Akridge.  Harvey enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 23, 1953, and served as a Rocket Engine Mechanic and Missile Maintenance Supervisor.  He retired and was honorably discharged from military service at the Grand Forks Air Force Base with the rank of Senior Master Sargeant on June 1, 1974

Harvey was employed as Director of Biomeds and Maintenance with Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing, especially catfish days for many years, hunting, coin collecting, metal detecting, and gardening. He and Judy, the love of his life, enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winter.

Harvey was known to help anyone with anything.  He was loved and respected by everyone that met him and was a pillar among men.

Harvey married Judy Davidson on September 27, 1975, in South Dakota.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Janice (Wayne) Stoltman, Cheryl Myhand, (James Mosely), Donna Patrick, Allen Akridge, Shelly (Mark) Schumacher, Steve Nelson; a sister Barbara Joan Hansell; 9 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Hugh Akridge and Luther Akridge.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday,
Military Honors: Accorded at the time of burial, by the American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Burial: In the spring, at Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
