Helmer "Hal" A. Rugroden Jr., age 68 of Fargo formerly Grand Forks, died in his home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

Helmer (Hal) Alan Rugroden Jr. was born on January 4 ^th , 1953 to Helmer and Hazel (Jacobsen) Rugroden in Devils Lake, ND. Hal was united in marriage to Annette Allard on December 17 ^th , 1971.

Hal worked for several auto body shops in Grand Forks until opening his own, A to Z Auto Body and Frame Repair. After being self-employed for ten years Hal went to work at UND's EERC where he retired after 21 years in 2016 due to poor health.

Hal loved hunting, fishing and painting cars until his health no longer allowed him to continue. Throughout Hal's career he assisted Gerry Groenwald with several restorations, many of these vehicles were extremely rare one of a kind. Hal was very proud of his work with Gerry, he was honored to have been given this opportunity.

Over the last several years Hal occupied his time with his grandchildren, working on models and socializing with neighbors.

Hal is survived by his wife Annette, daughter Dawn Miranda (Chris Stollenwerk), three grandchildren, Joseph, Lucy and Nicholas Miranda, one brother, Donald Rugroden, sister Donna Jackson, sister-in-law, Sally Rugroden, brothers in law, Francis (Char) Allard, Bill Allard and Larry Spicer.

Hal was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Helmer Rugroden. Sisters Marilyn Bold, Janice Spicer and a brother Jerry Rugroden. Mother and Father-in-law, Frank and Bernice Allard, One stillborn daughter, one infant daughter, Maria and an infant grandson Dominic Miranda. Several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service: Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Norman Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Forks.

Visitation: One hour before service time at the funeral home.
