Jacob B. "Ben" Couchigian , 85, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Jacob Benoni "Ben" Couchigian was born December 21, 1934 in Douglas, ND, the son of George and Agnes (Gardener) Couchigian.  He was raised in Douglas, ND, graduating from Douglas High School. Following graduation, Ben enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country training fellow Airmen in places such as Japan and Alaska. After 20 years of service, Ben retired from the Air Force in February, 1974 with the rank of Technical Sergeant.  He settled  in Rogers, ND to be near his mother. He resided in Rogers for a number of years. He enjoyed the community softball teams and he was an avid reader.

Years later, he moved to Grand Forks, ND to be close to his brother, Bill, and Bill's family. Ben enjoyed attending family dinners and the sporting events his great nieces and great nephews were in.  He enjoyed attending softball games.

He was known to all as Uncle Ben.

Ben is survived by his sister-in-laws Anne (Donald) Couchigian, Florida, and Doris (Michael) Couchigian, Texas; his nieces, Dawn (Terry) Mack, Coeur d' Alene, ID, Wanda Couchigian, Grand Forks, ND, Rhonda Couchigian, St Croix Falls, WI, Stephanie (Gary Michel) Couchigian, Coeur d' Alene, ID, Donna Couchigian, Florida, and nephews Richard Couchigian, Florida Charles Couchigian (Nevada).

Ben was preceded in death by his parents and his 3 brothers; Donald, William, and Michael.

Interment: 2:00 p.m. Monday, June21,2021 in the Garden of the Evangelist's Columbarium, Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign  Wars Post 3817 and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard.
