Jane M. Schjeldahl, 79, passed away with family at her side on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at HIA Heather's House in Fargo, ND.

Jane Marie Eisner was born on June 10, 1946 to Ben and Eileen Eisner in Grand Forks. She graduated from St. James High School in 1964 and Mayville State in 1968.

Jane married the love of her life, Dennis Oliver Schjeldahl, on August 17, 1968 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. Dennis and Jane both began their teaching careers in Osakis, MN, before moving on to work in Virginia, MN, and then to Grand Forks in 1973 to continue teaching and raise their children. Jane taught kindergarten at St. Mary's Catholic School, a career through which she touched many lives.

Jane was bright and joyful and brought laughter to every conversation and space she occupied. She never took herself too seriously. Hot coffee always accompanied conversation, and a spot on a living room sofa was always open to visitors. She loved Neil Diamond, was fond of home grown tomatoes, cherished the St. Mary's Parish, and enjoyed spending hours out to eat with her closest friends. She was selfless with her time and energy and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. To say she will be missed is an understatement. While we are grateful for our time with her, we are heartbroken to not have more.

Jane is survived by her children: Eric (Laura) Schjeldahl, Christopher Schjeldahl, Ryan (Teresa) Schjeldahl, and Katherine (Ben) Schneweis; sister Judy (Don) Heit; five grandchildren: Audra (Gus), Alexandra (Eli), Oliver, Zora, and Callan; two great-grandchildren: Kai and Ivy; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, Jane's family requests donations be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, HIA Hospice in Fargo, or the Carlos Acutis School in Grand Forks.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND

Visitation: One hour prior to the Liturgy in the Church a luncheon and burial will follow.

Burial: Memorial Park South in Grand Forks, ND.
