Janet Lundeen, 84, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, surrounded by family.

Janet was born on February 17, 1940, to "Honest" John and Sylvia (Gissin) Hoffman in Grand Forks, ND. She married Ernie Lundeen on June 17, 1961.

Janet's passion for helping others was evident throughout her life. As a young girl, she grew up working with her father in the family business, Hoffman's Clothing, and selling fireworks for "Honest John". She spent 35 years in the medical field, first caring for children in pediatrics at Deaconess and United Hospital, and later as a surgical assistant at Altru. Janet's heart for service didn't stop there—she also volunteered at the Altru Gift Shop, always giving of herself to others. After retiring, Janet found joy working as a lunchroom aide at Ben Franklin Elementary School and dipping Chippers at Widman's for many years.

Family was everything to Janet. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, a guiding light who loved deeply and was loved greatly in return. She raised her nephew, James, as a son, and she treated each of her nieces and nephews as her own, always making them feel special and cherished. Her warmth and generosity left a mark on everyone who knew her.

Janet was a woman full of life and energy. She was never one to sit still—whether it was baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, playing Bingo with friends and family, or spending time with loved ones. She had a special place in her heart for children. Auntie Janet wasn't just a title; it was a role she embraced with joy, bringing smiles wherever she went.

She is survived by her siblings, Robert Hoffman (Gay), of Grand Forks, ND, Rhea Murphy (Frank), of Lake Worth, FL, Ceil Zorn of Lake Worth, FL, Sharyl Sarah Hoffman of Israel, her son/nephew James Hoffman (LeAnn), Izzy, Lilly and Bella, as well as countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Lundeen, and her parents, John and Sylvia Hoffman.

In Janet's own words, "I love you more than you know".

She lived a beautiful life.

Celebration of Life : 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Monday.
Interment: Montefiore Jewish Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.

In lieu of flowers, plants are preferred.  Donations and memorials will be put towards a monument for Janet.
