Janice Brokken, 75, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Park River, ND, passed away peacefully at home October 3, 2021.

Janice Gilbert was born February 23, 1946, in Walsh County North Dakota. Janice grew up in Park River, North Dakota where she attended school. She was the daughter of Clifford and Esther (Hanson) Gilbert. Janice raised two children, son Michael and daughter Melanie. She was a wonderful mother to her children.

Janice moved to Grand Forks and worked for the Kirby Company. She was a dedicated childcare provider to numerous children throughout her career. She touched many children's lives by the dedicated care she provided.

Janice was a great cook, and she was known for her famous Christmas Eve "Lasagna" which her children looked forward to every year. Janice also loved playing Bingo, and she had a great collection of Bingo daubers.

Janice is survived by her children, son Michael Brokken of Grand Forks, ND, and daughter Melanie (Brad) Watkins of Lonoke, Arkansas; grandchildren Jessica and Aaron Watkins of Lonoke, Arkansas; sisters Judy (Bob) Ipswitch of San Mateo, California and Mary Gilbert (Bob Behan) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and brother Gary (Terri) Gilbert of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Esther Gilbert.

Graveside Service and Interment: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
