John R. Micka, 69 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at his home in Grand Forks.

John Robert Micka was born November 1, 1950 in Crookston, MN the son of John and LuVerne (Severin) Micka. He was raised in Grand Forks and in 1969 he graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. Following his graduation, he began his employment with the Great Northern Railroad. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam until 1971. Following his honorable discharge from military service, he returned to Grand Forks and was employed with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement.

John married Gloria Jean Toso in April 1973 in Grand Forks. They were married 29 years and raised a daughter, Kimberly Jean Toso. Gloria preceded him in death in 2002. John married Penny (Green) Devine in 2003. They were married 9 years. Penny preceded him in death in 2012.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Toso, East Grand Forks, MN; Penny's children, Shannon (Jeff Plutowski) Devine, Grand Forks ND, Heather Devine, East Grand Forks MN, Chad Devine Leighton, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Amy Bock, Grand Forks, ND; his brother, Edward (Linda) Micka, Perham, MN; sisters, Jeanette Micka and Mary Lou Eilert, both of Rochester, MN; 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wives, Gloria and Penny.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: On hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment: At a later date in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
