John Felix Rakoczy, 99, of Reynolds, ND, entered into eternal life on January 13, 2026.

John was born May 30, 1926, to Anton and Mary (Christopher) Rakoczy. He grew up on a farm near Reynolds and spent nearly his entire life connected to the land. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II before returning home to continue the farming life he loved. He farmed near Reynolds for decades and lived on the family farm until age 99. His life reflected the values he lived every day—faith, family, humility, and hard work.

John was active in his community and in agricultural leadership. He served on the Central Valley Bean Board, the Reynolds Coop Association, and the Americus Township Board. He was also a proud member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus in Reynolds.

On January 19, 1956, John married Dorothy Mary Dubuque. Together they built a life rooted in their Catholic faith and raised 10 children on their farm near Reynolds. John was known for his quiet strength, his consistent presence, and his deep love for his family.

John is survived by his children Dorothy Jackson of Fargo, ND, Ken Rakoczy of Reynolds, ND, Karen (Brent) Nelson of Golden Valley, MN, James Rakoczy of Plymouth, MN, Betty (Marty) Hagan of Cloverdale, IN, Ray (Michelle) Rakoczy of Grand Forks, ND, Tony Rakoczy of Scottsdale, AZ, Clara (Wade) Chambers of Grand Forks, ND, Jeanne (Todd) Hegg of Thompson, ND, son-in-law, Robert Kieffer of Appleton, MN, sister, Lottie Breidenbach of Grand Forks, ND, brother-in-law Art (Jan) Dubuque of Grand Forks, ND, grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Feuchtenberger, Trent Jackson, Cassie (Michael) Patterson, Eddie Nelson, Natasha Nelson, Danny (Cassie) Hagan, Anthony (Sierra) Hagan, Adam Hagan, Kelsey (James) Schiroo, Dylan Rakoczy, Dallas (Kimmy) Chambers, Madi (Kevin) Northagen, Samantha (Nathan) Howatt, Tyler Hegg, Summer Hegg, great-grandchildren, Blair, Brady, Kenzie, and Kenna Feuchtenberger, Scarlett and Leo Hagan,  Danny Staal, Oliver Hagan, Eleanor Patterson, River Northagen, Theodore Chambers, Vince and Navy Howatt.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Mary (Christopher) Rakoczy, wife, Dorothy Rakoczy, daughter, Mary Kieffer, twin brother, Joe Rakoczy, brother, Walter Rakoczy, sisters, Sophie Rakoczy, Anna Szymanski, and Sophine (Bohm) Adams, in-laws, Mary Ann Rakoczy, Virgil Bohm, Gene Adams, Vincent Breidenbach, Edward Szymanski, Betty  Wandler, Leon Wandler,  Daniel Dubuque, Meredith Dubuque and James Dubuque.

John's family is grateful for the support and kindness offered throughout his life and in his later years.

Mass of Christian Burial : 11:00 a.m.  Monday, January 19, 2026, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Reynolds, ND.
Visitation: Due to inclement weather, the visitation for Sunday, January 18, 2026 has been cancelled.
Visitation : Will be from  10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Burial: In the spring of 2026 in Calvary Cemetery, Reynolds, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded at the time of burial.
