Julian A. Slominski, 97, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Julian Anton Slominski was born on June 16, 1929, the son of Harry, Sr. and Josephine (Nice) Slominski, on the family farm near Ardoch, ND.  He was raised on the family farm and attended school in rural Ardoch.  Julian moved to Grand Forks and was employed in the Maintenance Department of First National Bank, until retirement.   Following retirement, he was employed part time with U. S. Bank.  Julian married Eleanor Vanyo on October 4, 1955, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN. Eleanor preceded him in death on December 2, 1995.

Julian continued to reside in Grand Forks and married Gladys Pecka on June 5, 1999, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.

Julian was a man of deep faith.  He was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the Parish Council. Also, served as head usher and served on the church funeral committee.  For many years, he drove the afternoon school bus for Holy Family School and St. James High School.   He was a charter member and instrumental in organizing the North Dakota Polka Lovers Klub of America Chapter in 1980.  Julian and Eleanor made great efforts in attending polka fests throughout the region, especially Bird Island, NE and Gibbon MN.  Julian and Eleanor served as royalty in the organization from 1982 to 1983.  Julian continued with dancing and polka fests after meeting Gladys.  Julian and Gladys enjoyed spending the winter months of 1999 to 2017 in Mesa, Az.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 50 years and the Polish National Alliance.  Julian was a man of many words and wasn't afraid of talking to strangers and meeting new people.  He loved socializing with people and was good at it.  A big part of Julian's life was being a handyman.  He was always willing to help people who needed his skills.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gladys; his sons, Mark Slominski and Randy Slominski, both of Grand Forks, ND, Kenneth (Sherry) Slominski, Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Julie (Tom) Ronai, Cramerton, NC; a sister, Johanna Dusek, Grafton, ND; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; Gladys' children, Deb (Mike) Enlow, John (Lisa) Pecka; her 6 children and 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Eleanor, brothers, Stanley Slominski and Harry Slominski, Jr., a sister, Anna Kazmierczak, twin sister, Frances Czapiewski, sisters, Bernice Vanyo and Veronica Strauss and a daughter-in-law, Sherril (Mrs. Randy) Slominski.

Julian's family would like to give a special thank you to Valley Senior Living for the loving care, friendship and kindness given to him for the last three years.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2026, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting and Visitation: 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a 9:30 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary in the church on Monday.
Interment: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
