Kain Schwandt, 26, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday September 30th, 2022. Although our lives will never be the same, it brings us comfort knowing that he passed away in his favorite place, surrounded by all the things he loved.

Kain Daniel Schwandt was born on July 9th, 1996, in International Falls, MN to Verna Karlson and Robert Schwandt. He was the cutest baby with his chubby cheeks and bright orange hair. While he was still a baby, him and his family moved to Grand Forks, ND which is where he was raised and attended school.

When Kain was younger, nothing made him happier than playing outside and bringing home all kind if bugs and reptiles. At the age of 9, Kain finally got the puppy he'd always wanted, Taz. They were inseparable for 15 years. During his summer breaks, Kain loved to spend time in Virginia, MN with Scott Hyvonen and his children Samantha, Nick and Matt. They all had a special place in Kains heart.

Kain was the life of the party. His presence lit up a room. He enjoyed frolfing, playing video games, pool and darts. He loved spending time with his girlfriend and hanging out with his many friends, especially his brother from another mother. They were nicknamed "Grand Forks Cutest Couple" because they were always together. Kain also enjoyed just laying around at home, watching TV and cuddling with "His Girls", Lily and Keeks. He was an amazing uncle and very involved in his niece and nephews' lives. They adored their Uncle Bubby.

As a teenager, Kain started doing flooring with his bonus dad, who helped raise him and took him under his wing in all aspects of life. He also was employed at Carpet Garage in Grand Forks. Most recently he worked for Roberton Construction in Grand Forks, ND

Kains life was cut short by an accidental overdose. Although he struggled with addiction, he didn't allow it to change who he was. You could always count on him for a hug and good laugh. He was an amazing, caring, loving, honest and respectful guy-who was loved and will be missed by so many. Addiction is a relentless disease that doesn't discriminate. Shortly before his relapse, Kain told his mom how happy he was with how his life was going. Within 2 days of relapsing, he was gone. If you are struggling with addiction, please reach out for help. Kain is survived by his parents, Verna Karlson of Grand Forks, ND and Robert (Tara Winchell) Schwandt of Red Lodge, MT. Bonus Dad, Mark Thompson of Grand Forks, ND. Grandpa, Vernon Karlson of Tower, MN. Girlfriend, Maggie Soeby of Grand Forks, ND. Sister, Dani Grill (Ryan Kamrowski) of Greenbush, MN and Grand Forks, ND. Brother, Drayke Schwandt of Red Lodge, MT. Dog Sisters, Lily and Keeks. Bonus Sister, Kendalynn Thompson of Grand Forks, ND. Niece and Nephews, Aleshanee, Journey and Joshua Schelinder all of Grand Forks, ND. Brother From Another Mother, Jacob Bruce of Grand Forks, ND. Lifelong best friend, Madyson McDonald of Walhalla, ND. Soo many other friends that it's impossible to list them all and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kain was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donna and Robert Halgrimson. His Grandma, Cindy Carlson. Grandma, Sandy Karlson. Best Friend, Bailey Henke and his other best friend and beloved dog, Taz-Which we know was the happiest of reunions.
