Kathryn Mary Schiele, age 76 of Grand Forks, died on Sunday, August 17, 2025 in Grand Forks, ND.

Kathryn Mary Schiele was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1949 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Earl and Lois (Kozojed) Henn. She was raised on a farm in Hillsboro, ND, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1967.

Kathy graduated from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND, in 1970 with a diploma in nursing as an RN. She married Donald Schiele on August 26, 1989 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND. They welcomed their first and only child, Seth, on October 19, 1990. Over a career that spanned 44 years, her nursing jobs brought her to Minneapolis, MN, Fargo, ND, and Grand Forks, ND. Kathy worked as a surgical nurse at an oral surgeon's office, taught a high school health occupations class, worked for the Red Cross, worked as a hospice nurse, and as a psychiatric nurse. She spent nearly half of her nursing career working at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, ND as a research nurse. In her later years, her health and mobility limited her, but she was previously an active member of various service organizations, as well as at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Kathy enjoyed having coffee with friends, watching cooking shows, movies, playing card games on her iPad, and more than anything, spending time with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Seth (Brittni) Schiele, Grand Forks, ND; sisters, Susan (Gerry) Simonson, Minot, ND; Diane Auch, Dickinson, ND; Marlene (Bob) Hargrave, Douglas, ND, Tammie (Terry) Blacklance, Thief River Falls, MN; a brother, Steve (Trixie) Henn, Crosbyton, TX; grandchildren, Gavin, Espn, and Emily; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; and a sister, Sandra Henn.

Mass of the Christian Burial: Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation; Thursday, August 21, 2025, beginning at 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm and on Friday an hour before services time in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.

Burial: Calvary South Cemetery of rural Thompson, ND.
