Kenneth Jacob Gust , age 89 of Fergus Fall, MN formerly Grand Forks, ND, died on Sunday May 17, 2026 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Kenneth J Gust was born in 1936 to Amos and Ann Gust. He lived and worked on the family farm , and attended school in the local one-room schoolhouse. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota. He served in the Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia from 1959-61, and later worked as a civil engineer and for the FAA.

Ken played the trumpet, and enjoyed dancing and sports; he played football in high school, and later was active in softball and bowling leagues.

In 1963 he married Melanie Adams. The couple had two sons, Ken and Adam. Kenneth loved his family, his brothers and sisters, and his parents. He cherished his time on the farm. He was strengthened by his Catholic faith and the Sacred Heart Church. His life's work was focused on making good use of the land, preserving natural beauty, and exploring renewable natural resources. All of this is what brought him joy and gave him purpose.

Returning home, being surrounded and remembered by the family and community he loved, is exactly what Ken would have wanted to celebrate a life well lived.

Ken was predeceased by parents Amos and Ann (Vanyo) Gust, as well as brothers Samuel, Michael, and John and sisters MaDonna Taylor and Patricia Corbid.

He is survived by sons Kenneth (Alexandra Calise) and Adam (Fabiola Torres) and their mother, Melanie Gust as well as brothers Leonard, Daniel (Lois), Paul (Patricia), and Gregory (Cynthia), and sisters Joanne Thompson, Jeannette Ripplinger (Peter), Kathy Hecht (Terry), Marge Myrick (Wallie Mosman), Carol Bloxsom (John), and Diane Hadden (Michael Mansfield) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial Mass : Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation : One hour before mass in the church.

Burial: Holy Trinity Cemetery in Tabor, MN.
