Kristen Suzanne Peterka (Newland) of Warren, Minnesota left this world on Monday, October 25th at Sanford in Fargo surrounded by loving family. She had bravely fought for 26 days with her beloved, Brock Newland and their son Lukas by her side.

Kris was born April 5th, 1969 to Michael and Jeanne (Solberg) Peterka in Grafton, North Dakota.

Educated in Park River, she made many close friends and was a stranger to no one. Her mind was every bit as bright and colorful as her personality, though she always seemed to prefer entertaining over retaining the school lesson. Rewriting her own narrative, complete with cartoons.

She was incredibly creative, whether drawing, sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, or building a treehouse. She enjoyed making things for those she loved. And she did so for each and every family member at some point in her life.

Kris would also embrace new opportunities, and she was gifted with great interpersonal skills.

Some of her most rewarding work was caring for the elderly as a travel CNA.

She was always developing new talents. Having never grown up with fishing, she shocked Brock and Lukas with her phenomenal ice fishing success. Their account of her newfound ability surprised no one who truly knew her.

Kristen is survived by all who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her little sister, Erin.

A private funeral service will be held.
