Leonard (Sonny) Theodore Wysocki II, age 90 of Minto, "kicked the bucket" as he would say, and joined his love, Janice, on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving children after a long battle with dementia.

Sonny was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Grafton, the son of Leonard Wysocki I and Anna Altendorf. He grew up and attended school in Minto where he graduated and went on to join the Air Force for four years.

He returned to Minto and met the love of his life, Janice Phelan, and they were wed on Nov. 26, 1956, in Minto. The couple built their home there and were blessed with four children. They were married for 63 years before Janice was called to heaven 2020.

Sonny worked for Standard Oil for a number of years and worked for various area farmers and fertilizer companies after retirement. He also became an Amoco Jobber in 1977 and named the business Wysocki Oil Company before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, duck and goose hunting, gambling, gardening and horse shoes . He was also as member of the Minto Legion and a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto.

He enjoyed listening to his old CB radio a lot and would chase after fires – a hobby he passed on to his boys.

"Grandpa Sonny" was remembered by his grand kids for many things such as his candy drawer, his love of root beer and the many Labor Day gatherings which began in celebration of is 80 ^th birthday since he refused to be thrown a party.

In more recent years, you could always find him in his favorite recliner watching game shows. This is also where his kids and grandchildren gathered around on Christmas to open presents but grandpa could always be spotted opening his long before it was his turn. He will be remembered and deeply missed by many.

Sonny is survived by his children: Leonard (Len) T. (Janet) Wysocki III, Grafton, Brian (Sheri) Wysocki, Minto, Shelly (Gary) Syverson, Bismarck, and Sharlene (Randy) Knutson, Erskine, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Corey (Chelsea) Wysocki, Andrew (Samantha) Wysocki, Ethan Wysocki, Erin (fiancé Dustin Koehnen) and Abby Syverson, Jake Knutson (fiance Sami Sjulestad), Kelsey (Austin) Tadman and Jaycee Knutson; great grandchildren Graycie, Zaiden, Emma and Grayson Wysocki; sisters: Delores (John) Janssen and Audrey Cluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife; and brother-in-law Ken Cluff.

Funeral and memorial services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the spring at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
