Lori Jean (Henderson) Fischer , 74, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on July, 6th 2026. She was born on September 6th, 1951, in Langdon, North Dakota, to Calvin and Verna Henderson, being their youngest of four children.

Lori and her family moved to Minot, North Dakota, where she created her life for many years. Lori's father ran what is now known as "Home of Economy," the piece that originally brought her to western North Dakota. In 1969, Lori graduated from Minot High, ready to step into her next position as airport security for the Minot International Airport. Over the next decade, her life blossomed both professionally and personally. On November 30th, 1972, Lori welcomed her first child, a son, Jason Loy Fischer. Later, on October 15th, 1979, Lori welcomed her second child, a daughter, Amanda Jean Fischer. Through her time working security, Lori met the love of her life, the late William "Bill" Fischer, who served as the Minot International Airport FAA supervisor.

On September 19th, 1987, Bill and Lori's children and families were blended together as they decided on forever. Lori lovingly embraced Bill's children, Christine "Chris" (Fischer) Martensen, John Fischer, Jan (Fischer) Brooks, and William "Bill" Fischer as her own. After marrying in Minot in September of 1987, they wasted no time moving to Grand Forks, North Dakota, just a month later. Bill started a new position within his line of work while Lori became a homemaker, lovingly providing for Jason and Amanda as they grew up.

On April 13th 1994, Lori faced the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband Bill after his courageous battle with cancer. Following his passing, Lori began a new chapter at Beginning Experiences. Throughout her time in the program, she became a counselor, creating lifelong friendships with others involved. During this time, she sparked a deep affection for butterflies and yellow roses. Lori loved to spend her free time reading, tending to her plants, baking, and belting out notes to her favorite songs. Above all, family was Lori's pride and joy, especially being a grandma. She loved being surrounded by her loved ones, sharing love and laughs amongst them all.

Lori is survived by her children: Jason and wife Lisa Fischer, Amanda Fischer and Fiancé Jon Gergen, Christine "Chris" Martensen and husband Dale Martensen, John Fischer and wife Theresa Fischer, and Bill Fischer and wife Sonya Fischer. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris "Kit" Martensen and wife Charmaine Agustin, Cara Coburn and husband Sean Coburn, Nathaniel Shaw and wife Ashley Shaw, Anthony Shaw and wife Courtney Shaw, Michael Crawford and Fianceé Crystal Pound, Erik Fischer and wife Nikki Fischer, Adam Fischer, Reanna Brooks, Gabrielle Fischer and boyfriend Noah Liebelt, Elizabeth Fischer, Davin Brooks, Hannah Fischer and Fiancé Austin Carbone, and Madeline Fischer. She was also survived by her great-grandchildren and any of her friends that meant just as much to her as family.

Lori is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Verna Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Fischer. Her brother Dennis Henderson, sister Shirley Crookston, and daughter Jan Brooks also preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her fur babies, JD, Muffin, and Keebler.

Funeral Service : 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 in the Norman Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation : 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
Burial : Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND.
