LuVerne K. Svoboda, 93, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Valley Senior Living-Columbia Road in Grand Forks.

LuVerne Kathleen Weaver was born on April 7, 1927 in Conway, ND the daughter of Andrew and Kathleen (Jones) Weaver. She was raised and attended elementary School in Johnstown, ND. LuVerne graduated from Gilby High School in Gilby, ND and went on to Attend Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks. LuVerne married Stanley Svoboda on February 8, 1948 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ardoch, ND. They made their home in Johnstown and LuVerne managed the Post Office and operated the family grocery store. LuVerne and Stanley moved to Grand Forks in 1968 and LaVerne was employed in the Food Service Department of the University of North Dakota and Implement Dealers Insurance.

During their retirement years, LuVerne and Stanley enjoyed traveling and Camping. Stanley preceded her in death June 10, 2012.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Svoboda, Rosemont, MN; her daughters, Andrea (Gary) Stroh, Vancouver, WA, Ramona Mergenthal, Fordville, ND and Theresa (Danny) Norton, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Brandan (Shana) Stroh, Raina (Chris) Park, Tanner (Amber) Norton, Casey Norton, Connor (Carmen) Norton, Zachary Svoboda, Callie Svoboda; great-grandchildren, Cullen Stroh, Aislynn Stroh, David Norton, Danny Norton, Cassidy Park, Austin Park, Isla Norton and Elijah Norton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brothers, Duane Weaver and Kenneth Weaver and a son-in-law, Don Mergenthal.
