Mahlon Leroy Thompson , 87, of Buxton, ND passed away December 14 at his home.  Mahlon was born in Madison, MN where he later met Vivian Lausen and they were married in 1956.  Together, Mahlon and Vivian made a home wherever work led them throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota.  They raised four sons during their adventures.

Much of Mahlon's early work career was associated with the grain elevator industry.  He spent the last 20 years of work at the University of North Dakota, Facilities Department, until he retired in 2002.

Mahlon enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and took great pride in keeping his trucks looking like new.  During retirement, he spent time in the garden, loved to watch baseball on TV, and enjoyed reading the daily newspaper.  He will be remembered for how he would do anything for kids. Mahlon and Vivian's home always had an open door for their sons' friends and the neighborhood kids.

He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Vivian and their sons Greg (Linda) Thompson, Mike Thompson, Brian Thompson, and Steve (Linda) Thompson and their seven grandchildren Kristel (Jake) Seth, Diana Thompson (John Pruett), Eric (Rachel) Thompson, Garrett (Ashley) Thompson, Cheryl (Chase) Hagen, Toni (Cellec) Coleman, and Chet (Allie) Thompson along with 13 great grandchildren and counting.

Mahlon was preceded in death by his parents Theo and Clara Thompson, brothers Curtis Thompson and Vernon Thompson, sister Lois Danielson, and grandson David Thompson.

Memorial Event: In 2022 when weather gets nicer, a "Celebration of Life" will be held for friends and family at a location in or near Grand Forks, ND.
