Margie Ann Cummings (Guntzburger) , 73, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Margie was born on July 26, 1952. She grew up in East Grand Forks and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1970. She later attended the University of North Dakota.

Margie spent over 25 years in the catering and hospitality industry, where she truly thrived. Her passions were her exceptional culinary skills honed over the years and her astute sense of fashion. She also enjoyed tending bar, where her natural warmth and outgoing personality made anyone feel comfortable and welcome. She had a rare gift for connecting with people—no one stayed a stranger for long. Her quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and genuine kindness made her a joy to be around and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a loyal and trusting friend. She had a nurturing personality and was a caregiver for whomever needed it.

In 2000, Margie reconnected with Dennis Cummings, a childhood friend, and their relationship grew into a lasting partnership. The following year, she joined Dennis in Gulfport, Mississippi where he was living and employed. They returned to East Grand Forks to be married

surrounded by family and friends. Together, they built a life rooted in friendship, laughter, and shared history.

In 2010, Margie returned to East Grand Forks with her stepson, Matthew, to care for her parents as they were needing more care. Her deep sense of family and commitment to those she loved was evident in everything she did. Following the passing of her parents, she faced health challenges with strength and resilience. With travel being too difficult she remained in East Grand Forks. Her husband, Dennis, joined her in 2021 following his retirement.

During her health struggles, she maintained her outgoing personality, her sense of humor and positivity and support for others .Her presence could light up any room, and her generous spirit and beautiful smile will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Kelly, Amanda, and Matthew Cummings; her half-brother, Robert Helland and his wife, Lois, and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her half-sister, Beverly.

Margie was a force of nature and will be warmly remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Funeral Liturgy: 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2026 in the Norman Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral liturgy at the funeral home on Monday.
Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN.
