Heaven gained a very special angel on September 18, 2026. Marguerite Jean "Marge" (Gotthardt) Jordan, age 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

The daughter of Peter and Madeline (Parmentier) Gotthardt, she was born on September 10, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up and attended school in Chicago, graduating from Alvernia High School in 1949. Chicago is also where a blind date brought her together with the man that would become her husband, Carmen "Hawkeye" Jordan. The two wed on October 10, 1953, and would go on to build a beautiful life and a loving family together.

That beautiful life included relocating to Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1977. While continuing to raise her family, Marge also enrolled at the University of North Dakota, where she would earn two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science in Library Science and Audiovisual Instruction in 1993.

Throughout her life, Marge worked various jobs, including as a waitress and at the Motorola factory, Target, and the YMCA nursery. But if you asked her, she would say her greatest accomplishment was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. And although she had more than plenty of her own, anyone who walked through her door instantly became family. If a baby needed rocking, her arms were always ready and waiting. She wouldn't hesitate to invite you to stay for dinner (even if you just ate), and her front porch was the family gathering place where countless memories were made.

Marge had a spark for life that was clear in everything she did. She loved traveling, especially her trips to Disney World; collecting decor for every single holiday; playing games on her computer; watching her beloved Chicago Cubs; winning jackpots at Bingo; filling her photo albums to the brim with new memories; never hesitating to order dessert first; and, of course, gardening and tending to her flowers. Whether she was living at her home on North 3rd Street or at Valley Senior Living, her green thumb was evident.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen; her daughters, Mary Joanne and Mary Anne Jordan; her parents, Peter and Madeline Gotthardt; her siblings, Rose Mary Jordan, Lawrence Gotthardt, and Joseph Gotthardt; and her grandchildren, Stanley Johnson III, Anthony Jordan, Sabrina Jordan, and Joseph Jordan Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Madeline McGuire, and leaves behind quite the legacy through her children, Mary Suzanne (Stanley) Johnson; Carmen (Chris) Jordan; Mary Christine Parsons (John Jenniges); Mary Elizabeth (John) Stempinski; Mary Jane (Raymond) Lee; Mary Ellen (Eric) Morrison; Peter (Mary) Jordan; Michael (Shelli) Jordan; William (Bobbi) Jordan; David (Joyce) Jordan; Mary Madeline (Eric) Thompson; Joseph (Jessica) Jordan; and Mary Marguerite (Daniel) Stark; her grandchildren, Jennie, Rusty, Carm Jr., Nick, Brandon, Jayne, Sissy, John, Binky, Emma, Sammy, Erica, Eric, Summer, Savannah, Mike, Mandy, Amber, Willy, Dalton, Kody, Josh, Sarah, and Elizabeth, along with their spouses and significant others, and her 24 great-grandchildren.

The family would also like to take this time to recognize Maricel, one of Marge's favorite caregivers during her time at Valley Senior Living, for her kindness, compassion, and friendship.

Whether you called her Marguerite, Marge, Margie, Mom, Ma, Mother, Grandma, or Great-Grandma, it was a privilege to have her in your life. She was the heart of a family that grew far beyond what she could have ever imagined, and her love will continue through every generation that follows. We are grateful for the 95 years we were lucky enough to have her, and even more grateful for the memories she leaves behind.
