Marilee J. Koopman , 83, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9,2022 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Marilee Jean Vaughan was born on November 15, 1938, in Flint, MI the daughter of Thomas and Isabell (Durkacy) Vaughan.  She was raised and educated in Flint.  She moved to Grand Forks where she met and married David B. Koopman.  Marilee and David continued to reside in Grand Forks working and raising their family.

Marilee was a very spiritual person and was a longtime and active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks.  She enjoyed gardening, walking, and visiting with her friends.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her great-grandsons. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David; her children, Claude (Lynette) Smith, Donny (Kathy) Smith, Sally Smith and Paula (Silvestre Zertuche) Davis; her sisters, Charlene Allman, Mary Gadany, Roxanne Kuehling and Vi Ann Vaughan; a brother, Leon Vaughan; grandchildren, Taylor, Jessica, Leah, Jaidee, Bailey, Lydia, Jacob, Kane, Melissa and Caleb; great-grandsons, Angelo, Orlando, Bentley, Kyngston, Reilly, Tommy and Devyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Vaughan.

Memorial Mass: 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Wednesday.
