Marilyn J. Barry , 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Parkwood Senior Living in Grand Forks after a short battle with cancer.

Marilyn Joan Carl was born in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Jess and Carrie (Frye) Carl. She attended St. Mary's School and went on to graduate from St. James Academy. She was employed with Black's Bakery before meeting the love of her life R. Keith Barry. Marilyn and Keith were married March 15, 1951 at St. Mary's Church in Grand Forks. Together they raised eight children. Her first career was a homemaker and care giver to her children. After her children were raised, she began her second career at Target in receiving, where she worked for twenty years until retiring.

Marilyn enjoyed dancing, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, cooking and baking, playing cards and spending time with her family at the lake. She was devoted to her Catholic faith. Marilyn will be remembered for her sweet smile and gentle demeanor, generosity, kindness and humor.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori (Jerry) Bliven, Charles Town, WV, Ginny (Scott) Lyche, Gail Anderson, Julie (Brad) Baker, all of Spring, TX and Jody (Neil) Strande, Grand Forks, ND; her sons, Steve (Lisa) Barry, Fargo, ND and Jay Barry, St. Peter, MN; her sisters, Rita Zahradka, Grand Forks, ND; a son-in-law, Max Crandall, Utah; a sister-in-law, Susan (Mrs. Wayne) Carl, Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, Lyle Lange, Forest Lake, MN; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith; a daughter, Karen Crandall; her sisters, Lorna Lange and Linda Jeffrey; brothers, Ralph, Jess, Loran and Wayne.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.
Burial: In the spring in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
