Marjorie "Margie" Bergum, 83, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

Marjorie J. McGurran, the daughter of William and Grace (Brown) McGurran, was born April 24, 1936 in Cavalier, ND. She was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from St. James Catholic High School. Following high school, she was employed as a switchboard operator with Northwestern Bell. Marjorie married Ronald J. Bergum on October 19, 1957. Marjorie and Ronald continued to reside in Grand Forks and raise their family. Ronald preceded her in death on September 26, 1989.

Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time at the family lake home on Lake Sarah. As a devoted Catholic, Marjorie was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was actively involved in the Altar Society. She volunteered many hours of service at St. Anne's Guest Home. Even through adversity she trusted God. She was the "Best Mom Ever" and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Edward (Molly) Bergum, William "Bill" Bergum, Dale (Tracy) Bergum, Alan (Brenda) Bergum; her daughters, Mary (Fidel) Hughes, Janet (Steven) Tybus; brothers, Dennis (Geri) McGurran, J. Michael (Elizabeth) McGurran, Gerald (Robbie) McGurran, David (Delaine) McGurran; sisters, Charis (Mrs. Joe) Brossart, Rita (Don) Devine, Maureen (Mrs. Gary) Sylling, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Geralynn Bergum; a sister-in-law, Barb McGurran; grandchildren, Sarah, Joel, Katie, Jacob, Robert, Joseph, Anna, Andy, Michelle, Nick, Jaxon, Aubre, Jessica, Ryan and John; great-grandchildren, Grace, Leah, Jana, Calvin, Calissa, Annika, Elijah, Haleigh and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald; a son, James Bergum; a granddaughter, Grace Bergum; brothers, Timothy McGurran and Pat McGurran; sisters, Mary Vonasek and Sr. Michelle McGurran, O.S.B. and a sister-in-law, Raeanne McGurran.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation : 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: In the spring in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
